Toddler Bag for Church

Like every family, we are having a hard time keeping our toddler quiet during church. Going to the nursery isn't working; we usually get paged after about 10 minutes because she won't stop screaming.  This results in my husband watching the sermon on TV from the church cafe as I sit in the sanctuary by myself.  This is resulting in us not going to church because it is becoming too much of a hassle.  We might as well just stay home and listen to the sermon online.

To try and fix this issue, I decided to make a church bag for her that would have many different (quiet) items to keep her busy in church.  I decided to visit my local dollar store to see what I could find.

Here is what I came home with:

I found several things including:
  • A color book and new crayons
  • A magnetic dress-up doll
  • Stickers
  • A magnetic drawing board
  • A plastic folder
I am planning on putting just a few of the coloring pages in the folder along with one sheet of stickers, some blank pages of paper, and a few Sesame Street color sheets printed from Parenting.  I am hoping that by using the folder, I can cut down on some of the noise from turning pages, ripping pages, etc.

These will be only things she gets to play with at church, hoping the excitement will help in keeping her interested in them.  Wish me luck!

What do you do to keep your children quiet at church?
